We went to CoCo Key Water Resort in Fitchburg, MA today and here is my review....
Parking: Plenty
Gate/Admissions: [$$$$$] The daily ticket is kind of pricey. (Much cheaper then flying the family to the Islands though!) They do offer a variety of ticket packages. See their online pricing here. Children 2 and under are free.
Birthday Parties: Yes
Bathrooms: There are two family style bathrooms with showers, a changing area and changing tables. The family rooms are huge. They also have bathrooms/locker rooms which are also huge. They have a bunch of lockers and showers. There is also a changing table in the handicap stall.
Cleanliness: Very Clean!
Store: They have a food counter and a bar located in the water park area. They sell everything you can think of. I saw hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza, french fries, etc.
Overall: WOW! As soon as we walked in I felt like we were on vacation! The music was like being in the Islands. The water park is really cool. It has a lazy river (small one), large water slides, an indoor/outdoor jacuzzi, a pool with basketball hoops, an adventure pool with a net across the top and cool things to walk across and of course the large water playground area for the younger kids. Beware that there is a large bucket that fills up on the top of the structure and dumps water over the structure. A bell rings to warn you, but if it's your first time you have no idea! My son was a bit scared of the water dumping all over the place, so he decided he enjoyed the showers in the locker room the best! You just never know when they are 2 what they will gravitate too! They have lifejackets in different sizes for the the small children also. I was thrilled! The temperature was beautiful and the water was warm. I will go back to this park again in the dead of winter when I need the vacation cure! They have other locations in New England: Danvers, MA and Waterbury, CT.

how did you get in on the 10th?
Very cool! We were invited on the 10th too but I couldn't make it with the 2 older ones in school. Think we might go in January! =)
A waste of time. The one in Danvers is larger and better, plus they offer season tickets.
Sounds great Mandy. Thanks for the review! Olivia and and I will have to get down there and try it out.
Not recommended unless they work out the kinks soon. My family of 4 went there over the Christmas break, it was packed, the lines to get in and to get food were one hour plus. By late in the day there were no towels available as they were all over the floor all over the place!
We took our two boys for an overnight on the 2nd and 3rd of January. The hotel was an utter nightmare... completely unprepared to accommodate guests. The park itself was up and running. However, we found the bathrooms REALLY disgusting on Saturday, and little was done about the lack of towels. Children in regular (not swim) diapers were being allowed to enter the water in droves. Some of the guests were aggressive and rude. Nothing was done about any of it. Our experience sure didn't parallel yours, unfortunately. I absolutely can't recommend this venue. Save your money.
It sounds like a fun time but we were very unhappy. Not only is it expensive but the facilities do not really work well for the amount of people they let in there. First there was no parking. The place was packed. You would think they would plan for parking. We had to park in the service area way at the back of the hotel. Then we waited in line for 1 hour to check in with our tickets. Everyone in line was unhappy. The people staying at the hotel experienced just what is written - they could not check in until later at night and had to wait in line with the rest of us for their passes. There is nowhere near enough lockers or storage areas for the volume of people. Everyone had things all over the floor. There is a very tiny changing area and very few bathrooms for the size of the crowd. People were changing in the bathroom stalls which made the line for people needing the bathroom very long. This is not good for people with small kids who need to go. The bathrooms were dirty after that many people were using them. Luckily we brought our own towels as they run out of towels all the time. Don't trust them to have towels. There were long lines at every pool or sllide. The pools and lazy river were jammed packed with people so you could barely move. My daugther (age 8) and her friend were both injured on the lazy river. People were pushing and shoving trying to squeeze down this river on floats and flipped my daughter's friend over so she hit her head. Someone also shoved my daugther so she got a huge scrape on her side that required a trip to first aid. As you can imagine there were no tables to eat food at since people parked at them all day. We left after only a few hours and the injuries. We will not go back.
My family recently went to a Co Co keys resort in Fitchburg and had a terrible time. Please – save yourself the $120+ dollars and don’t go.
Food – they don’t allow outside food or drink, but only have one small food stand. Around 10:30 I waited in line for ~15 minutes for milk for my daughter (they don’t sell water or juice there). They don’t sell any healthy foods – only pizza, French fries, hot dogs…etc. At lunch time, we waited in line for ~40 minutes to order and then another 15 minutes to receive our food. We got in line at 11:30 and noticed that the line was still really long until we left at 2:00.
They allow outside shoes and strollers into the pool area so by the afternoon, the floor was muddy. It was very dirty to walk on with barefoot (and gross!).
The locker room is only about 10’ x 10’ and has a large bench in the center so there’s no room to actually change your clothes in there. Its even more tight if you’re trying to have your kids change there too.
There’s only one bathroom that has so few stalls there was always a line.
With the day passes and people spending the night there – the pool area was very crowded. There wasn’t enough tables and chairs for everyone so many people had to put their things on the floor. They also ate their lunch while sitting on the floor which was so muddy and gross – thankfully we had a table.
It was ridiculous to think about how much time we spent just standing in line for life’s basic’s necessities.
I contacted Management at Coco Key Resort in Fitchburg today to review the negative feedback I have been receiving.
I will update everyone with their response as soon as I receive it.
Thanks,
Mandy
Thank you for this feedback. Rest assured that we are working diligently to earn back your confidence and educate the public about our facility. Here’s some of what we’ve been doing:
• Temperature issues- We have had mechanical issues with our heat recovery units. This is currently being resolved and our temperatures are now consistently more comfortable.
• Lack of available towels- We did experience an issue with our industrial size towel dryer hindering our ability to provide guests with towels during a busy weekend. This issue has been resolved.
• The long waits for pre-paid water resort tickets- We have added directional signage to the front lobby and we now have dedicated lines for pre-paid tickets to assist in expediting the entry process.
• Over-crowded resort- We have lowered the maximum number of guests able to purchase tickets to less than our capacity. Our goal is to limit the number of people in the our resort so we may provide a better guest experience.
• Hotel Check-In Issues - We are working to streamline the check-in process. In the near future, an additional check-in area in the water resort lobby will assist us with assigning rooms for our packages in a more timely fashion.
• Long waits at the food outlets- We are creating a "lighter fare" menu prepared by our hotel Bistro that will be available at the Wet Rooster bar and Grill in the water park. This will create additional dining options for families as well and reduce the lines for A&W and Pizza Hut.
• Rest Room/Locker Room Issues – We have increased the number of times our cleaning staff monitors the men’s and women’s locker rooms, as well as the rest rooms. And please notify guest services if there are issues with the restrooms/locker rooms so we can respond immediately.
Again, we appreciate your comments and your feedback. We take all of it very seriously and we remain committed to the health, safety and comfort of all of our guests. Thank you.
Uuuuhhhhhh Yea!! nice resolutions there buddy! ummmm I wanted to take my daughter to the Fitchburg, MA beacuse it's closer but you are booked until April?? for weekends?? are you kidding me!! By the time we can go it will start getting nice out.... We will travel to the other Coco Keys which are bigger and have availability!
Feb 7th...Visited the Fitchburg,MA location and I am sorry to say the website was very misleading. The "lazy river" is more like bumper tubes for kids, you can't just let the water take you, all the kids bump and try to race thru. Plus it is very small. The small pool is not big enough for everyone they let in it. Some of the bigger kids take over in the pool w/ the basketballs. Although that is not the resorts fault, it's still aggravating. There really should be someone managing that. The website says that are controlling capacity, but I'm not buying that. It was extremely packed by noon and it just seemed that more and more people came in. I'm thankful I got discounted tickets, I would of been very very upset if I had paid the normal day pass rate. I don't think I will be going back.
We just went for a visit today and I was very disappointed that the front half of the water park was shut down several times throughout the day for 30 minutes to an hour. That was the main section for the little kids and the lazy river. So all that was left was the big water slides and the pool with basketball hoops, and as another member commented the big kids take over and are unruly. I thought it was a bit expensive for the amount of space they had open. The hot tub was also closed to us on our visit. Hope they are able to work out the kinks because it would be a fun place to visit it the entire place was open the whole time.
I purchased a wknd pkg for my in-laws and their 2 children at coco key fitchburg. The hotel experience was a nightmare for them. They couldn't check-in until 7pm. Staff was rude and unaccomodating. They didn't say much about the water park as I think they were so let down by the hotel situation that it ended up being the focal point of the wknd. I would not recommend anyone spend their monies there!!!
We had a similar situation at the one in Danvers over the Thanksgiving holiday. We purchased a day pass we found on line -citykids- for 50% off. A huge mistake! No towels, no lockers, no place to sit. We actually had to talk to some of the teenage staff because they were yelling at eachother inappropriately over the lazy river about guests there! We will never be back!
We just had my son's 10th birthday party there and had a great experience. The kids all loved it and it was super easy for us. In terms of the bad reviews I saw here, the crowds were perfectly reasonable, the staff were all friendly and accomodating, the lines for the slides were very short, and there were plenty of towels, though most of our guests brought their own. I think this was an ideal party spot for a group of 9 and 10 year-olds. Young kids might be limited to the first half of the park but I think most would still have a blast. No, the lazy river isn't a place to relax for parents...it's a kids' waterpark, of course kids will race and play. From the moment we walked in and the kids' jaws dropped to the end when kids told their parents it was "the best birthday party ever" it was a wonderful experience.
After reading previous posts I was afraid to take my family. Since we already had made our reservations to stay overnight online and told the kids, we went and had a fantastic time! The place was clean, plenty of towels, and a very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Our five year old ended up leaving his suitcase in the closet with his some of his precious toys in it. We called and the staff had it shipped to us within three days. I will go back!!!
Wow, a lot of these posts are old and pretty misleading now. I went with my two little ones (5 and 8) the other day and it was fantastic. After all the rain we've been having lately it was a great escape. Seems that they've worked out a lot of the "kinks" they were having the first couple months or so after opening in December. I will definitely go again and highly recommend it.
I have visited the coco key waster park in Waterbury,ct several times. In the beginning it was a nice little place to bring your kids.I bought what they called an after school splash pass for my kids. This pass is good until December 23rd.I am not happy with there service at all and after my passes expire I will not not be visiting again. They have alot of young kids who work there and they don't do their job.On one visit there were people having sex and making out in the hot tub. When i complained about this and told them this is supposed to be a family place the worker told me that there is nothing they could do about it.They used to supply towels but nolonger do this .My son got hit in the face and got a bloody nose by an older kid and once again they couldn't do anything about this.It was very hot inside and there was so much chlorine in the water that my eyes were burning and I wasn't even swimming. The next time I visited the park they had a promotion that people could get in free. That place was packed with a bunch of teen age kids. These kids were out of control. They had a big fist fight and there was a trail of blood allover the floor from the basketball pool to the front. To make it worse The worker just simply came with a towel and wiped up the blood with no cleaner.I emailed the manager and the hotel about this and never got a response back.
This place is absolutely disgusting. The other day I took the kids I babysit for who are great very well behaved kids and I felt bad they had to go there. They ended up having a fun time but we left after only like 2 hours because it was so bad. Good idea in theory--not in real life. The bathrooms/ "locker rooms" were aboslutely gross with stuff and garbage all over the floor, not to mention the floor was soaking wet. And I don't mean just like a little wet because it's a water park, but I mean like puddles! There is no room to change, move, or even breathe in there not to mention the lockers are about as small as they can get. There were no tables, at all, and no chairs open either which was really hard when the poor kids wanted to eat lunch. I would hardly call this place a water park... They have a lazy river thats about as small as a kiddy pool, another small pool thats FILLED with people and kids and it is a really odd tempature...The water slides were pretty fun but the lines were also long and you get freezing waiting for them. The place was so overcrowded, really unsanitary, and definitely not a "water park". I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone, don't go!
